Initial appointment

On your first visit you will be asked to give a history of your condition and after a full examination we will explain the diagnosis and agree a treatment program with you aimed at reducing pain, restoring function and reducing the risk of your symptoms recurring.  If appropriate you will also be shown some exercises which can be used at home.

Your treatment is tailored to your individual needs, whether to return to return to competitive sport or just to enjoy a stroll on the forest.

We work closely with GP’s, Consultants and Podiatrists and will refer you on to the appropriate person if needed.

Please be aware that for a Physiotherapy examination it may be required to remove some items of clothing, therefore, you may feel more comfortable bringing a thin strapped top and/or shorts for treatment.

Physiotherapy  is a healthcare profession with a science foundation. It is a non invasive approach to restore movement and function and relieve pain. It uses manual, hands on therapy and physical rehabilitation, for example specific exercises. It alleviates pain and stiffness related to muscles, tendons, ligaments nerves and joints.

Chaperone policy

‘’Physiotherapists have a duty to respect the dignity and sensibilities of patients, as well as their own right to work in a safe environment. By its very nature, physiotherapy is a ‘touching’ profession often with patients in a state of undress’’ Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

At Physiotherapy at the Old Dairy we view the protection of patients and practitioners throughout the treatment process of the highest importance. The Chartered society of Physiotherapists lay down guidelines to ensure the treatment of all, especially young persons.

We require all Children 16 or under to be supervised by an adult during examinations and treatment sessions. If a patient is over 16 they may wish to bring an informal Chaperone such as a friend or relative. A Chaperone is someone who is an adult acting as an impartial third party.

Please be aware that for a Physiotherapy examination it may be required to remove some items of clothing, therefore, you may feel more comfortable bringing a thin strapped top and/or shorts for treatment.
